The treadmill is about the most recognizable piece of exercise equipment on the planet. Treadmills conjure images of walkers, power walkers, and runners of all shapes and sizes. Using a treadmill is as beneficial to a cardiac patient recovering from surgery as it is to a marathon runner training during a thunderstorm. The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill is suitable for all of those needs.

Never underestimate the power of the treadmill. Walking is the key to a healthy lifestyle. The 10,000 step per day rule becomes easy to accomplish with a treadmill in your arsenal. Choosing a treadmill, however, is another story altogether. There is no simple rule to follow to your goal. There are, instead, choices and options to consider that will make your journey into treadmills fun.

What Is the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill?

[amazon box=”B01FNEZFU2″]

The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill is a low to mid-range priced home fitness machine. It is a full-sized treadmill with a 16-inch by 50-inch deck, rated for 300 pounds at 10 MPH. According to customer reviews, it comes quickly and well-packaged. It also gets high marks for easy-to-read assembly instructions and for having all of its parts.

Standard Features

Standard features on this unit give it a lot of bang for the buck. The deck, at 16″ wide by 50″ long, is plenty for either a 300 person or those with a long stride. The motor and frame, both of which are rated for 300 pounds as well, are under full warranty for five years. All other repairs are covered under a parts and labor warranty for the first 90 days.

This unit will take you up to 10 miles per hour, or one mile per minute. It offers an invigorating workout, with eight different workout programs. The reviewers were delighted that the eight programs are actually 16 when you consider there are eight for cardio and eight for burning fat.

The most impressive feature of this treadmill is the motorized incline feature. Motorized incline allows you to change how steep your walk is without interrupting your workout. It turns basic workout programs into mini-marathons, complete with hills.

The unit also has a built-in heart monitor, iPod and USB ports, a large display for stats and built-in speakers. For its price point, the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill offers a lot of bang for the buck.

The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill qualifies as the low-to-mid range for home exercise equipment.

From the customer reviews, the assembly isn’t an issue. The instructions are clear, and the parts are consistently in the box.

Comparing The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill

While the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill has everything you need in a home walking and running system, it’s always worth taking a look at the competition. In the world of treadmills, the competition is fierce.

How We Reviewed

To review the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill, we used the research and reviews of professional sources as well as feedback and reviews from Amazon customers. We also considered the options included, the manufacturer’s warranty, and, of course, the price.

 [amazon link=”B073WRBRKK” title=” NordicTrack C 590 Pro Treadmill” /]

[amazon box=”B073WRBRKK”]

Nordic Track is among the best-known of all exercise equipment manufacturers. They have been in the business for decades, providing tried and trusted products along with the newest innovations. Nordic Trac isn’t a fitness equipment reseller, they are the real deal.

The features are nearly identical to the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill. It is a folding treadmill with a 300-pound capacity and a motorized incline. It offers 20 programs for calorie burning or cardio. The incline, up to 10 degrees, is accompanied by a deck that changes with your program. Go from the road to a softer surface, lightening the load on your joints and making your workout more comfortable.

Complete with other features like built-in two-inch speakers, inputs for your devices and a heart monitor, this unit isn’t missing any of the features of the ProForm.

Unfortunately, this unit does not have good reviews. While Nordic Track has an excellent overall reputation, reviewers found their product to be lacking and their service experience even worse. Those reviews, however, stopped in 2017 and haven’t returned. That’s probably because, at the end of the day, Nordick Track’s unit has a lifetime frame warranty, a 25-year warranty on their motor, and a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

The GoPlus is the treadmill we chose at a lower price point than the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill. It showcases the basic features, pros and cons — and what you can expect from treadmills in this category in general.

This machine, rated for 220 pounds, is no exception. The only treadmills in this price point or lower rated for 300 pounds or more are specifically designed for heavier cardiac patients and offer few features.

GoPlus has taken the opportunity to use some of the cost saved from heavy duty motors and belts and applied it to other features. This light, nearly portable treadmill comes in at 92.5 pounds. It will hit a comfortable 7.5 MPH, a nine-minute mile. The deck is small, at 14.5 inches wide, so once again, be sure your stance and gait will allow it.

There are three levels of manual incline and 12 programs for weight loss and cardio. The GoPlus also supports Bluetooth. With the GoPlus app, you control your machine from your device. There are also built-in speakers and a heart rate monitor.

The overall theme is the same: great product for the price. Service concerns are handled quickly, and while some misread the listing and expected a motorized incline, they noted that the mistake was theirs.

Amazon acknowledges that there is no warranty information available, but reviewers have responded that their treadmill has outlasted any standard 90-day to one-year warranty a treadmill at this price point offers.

[amazon link=”B01LWAKT29″ title=”AFG Sport 5.5AT Electric Folding Treadmill ” /]

[amazon box=”B01LWAKT29″]

This AFG unit is what happens when you hit the higher end price point for this grade of treadmill. The AFG Sport is an upgrade from the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill for sure. Above all else, the frame and motor are guaranteed for life. A one-year warranty on everything else rounds out what 89 percent of reviewers say is a wonderful product.

Rated for 300 pounds with an 18-inch wide folding deck, this treadmill is a beast. It weighs 220 pounds, easily and quietly hits 10 MPH, and has a motorized incline that seamlessly moves when you or a program tell it to. With a heart rate monitor, three LCD screens, surround sound with an audio jack and a cushioned belt, this treadmill is too good to be true.

The AFG will set you back more. The good news is if you pay attention and check the right box, Amazon will assemble it for free.

[amazon box=”B071FRK2QR”]

This Efitment machine comes in about more than the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill. For that money, you might be expecting a boatload of added options. You will, unfortunately, be disappointed. With a three-year warranty on the structural frame and only 90-days on everything else, right out of the gate this unit is lacking.

The features of thew Efitment T012 don’t come close to warranting the price. The deck is 15.6 inches wide and 47 inches long. It is rated for 220 pounds. Essentially, this treadmill is the motorized version of the little GoPlus treadmill that could. This treadmill, unfortunately, can’t.

The motorized incline, which customers found to be anything but smooth, goes to nine degrees, not 10. The speed goes to nine miles per hour. The weight, coming in at just 112 pounds, tells a story of plastic parts where metal goes better. It’s as if this company designed a treadmill to be just slightly lower quality than all the others in its class — for a lot more money.

Reviews of this item are a mere 62 percent positive. This is not a product that lives up to that adage: the value of what you’re selling must exceed the price. This unit falls far short.

[amazon link=”B07MYTY66C” title=”ZAAP TX1000 735W Pro Motorized Electric Treadmill” /]

[amazon box=”B07MYTY66C”]

The Zaap TX4000 comes in putting it in the same price range as the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill. Rated for 287 pounds at up to 8.7 miles per hour, this treadmill is another that doesn’t cut the mustard. According to the reviews, the speakers aren’t worth listening to, the Bluetooth is unreliable, but the machine itself works well.

Unfortunately, the 12 programs don’t include an incline, because there is no incline available. The basic heart monitor and other standard issue items don’t make up for the lack of this basic feature. Even the lowest-grade treadmills offer some kind of incline.

No warranty information is available for this treadmill. Customers left five stars less than 40 percent of the time. Without an incline feature or something special to replace it, this machine falls flat.

Pros and Cons of the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill

The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill is, without a doubt, a great piece of equipment at a nice price point. That doesn’t mean, however, that you shouldn’t explore the pros and cons.

Pros

  • An impressive piece of equipment for the price
  • 300-pound capacity is going to appeal to a lot of people
  • The screen and features are everything you need in a home system
  • Product of a trusted company
  • Has a strong motor, a well-built frame, and a comfortable, reliable deck

Cons

  • Has a 16-inch deck that could be an issue with some, considering the 300 pounds of weight it can handle

Pros

The pros of the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill can be summed up pretty easily. It is an impressive piece of equipment for the price. The 300-pound capacity is going to appeal to a lot of people. The screen and features are everything you need in a home system. According to several reviewers, the programs are every bit as good as those at the gym.

Assembly is available through most retailers, although reviewers convey confidence that you can do it yourself. The instructions are clearly labeled.

This ProForm model folds. The base stays steadily on the floor, and the deck folds upward. Roller wheels allow you to move it and store it in a corner or closet without help. The folding deck doesn’t affect the quality or functionality of the belt. Make sure the deck is securely latched to the base before exercising as an added safety precaution.

Many of the reviewers are repeat ProForm customers. That makes the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill the product of a trusted company. There are very few review updates with service problems. By its own reputation, this treadmill has a strong motor, a well-built frame, and a comfortable, reliable deck.

Cons

The ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill has a 16-inch deck. That could be an issue with some, considering the 300 pounds of weight it can handle. Those with a wide walking stance will want to go to a store where this unit is set up to test the width. If this unit isn’t available, any 16-inch wide treadmill will do the trick.

The number one reason was product defects. In most cases, the issues were solved by return or replacement. Many of those leaving one star, however, were those typical unhappy internet reviewers, upset that they purchased something they had to put together.

Walk with Confidence

An overwhelming majority of professional and customer reviews agree that the ProForm 6.0 RT Treadmill is a great product. The price point won’t break the bank. Those searching for a consistent workout on a reliable machine can stop here and know they’re walking with confidence.
